After these urban days out it is always refreshing to meander along the course of the  Loire river and see the villages  and small towns of the region.

Saint Florent le Vieil is the home to the famous surrealist Julien Gracq, the author of  Au Château d’Argol  and his former house is now a museum. For those whose interests are less involved in matters literary and more towards cuisines the town is famous for its fish whilst Chalonnes sur Loire is well known for its antiques.

Béhuard  is actually situated in an island in the middle of the Loire and features the charming 15th century Notre Dame church and quiet alleys where the 21st century can seem to be very remote.
